La nueva vía propuesta reduce la distancia entre Santo Domingo y la Zona de la
Península de Samaná de 220 KM a 120 KM, disminuyendo el tiempo de viaje de
4 horas a tan solo 1 ½ hora con una velocidad de recorrido promedio de 80 KM/HR.
La nueva vía se inicia en el KM 20 de la Autopista Las Américas y recorre el país
prácticamenten línea recta en sentido Sur Norte
el primer tramo de la vía atraviesa las llanuras existentes de Bayaguana y Monte Plata, pasando continuación por terrenos ondulados situados al este de Sabana Grande de Boyá.
mientras que en el segundo tramo cruza las formaciones montañosas al Suroeste de los Haitises
atravesando la cuenca del bajo Yuna, hasta empalmar con la carretera existente que va hasta Samaná, en el tramo Nagua Sánchez.
